This chapter is explains parts of Nervous System i.e. central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and autonomic nervous system. It also describes the reflex Action and reflex arcs.

Central nervous system

The central nervous system (CNS) is the decision making centre of the nervous system and it consists of the brain and the spinal cord.

Brain:

·                   Brain is the major coordinating centre in the body. The brain is located inside the skull of our body. It is protected by a bony box in the skull called cranium.

·                   The brain is surrounded by three membranes called meninges and the space between them is filled with the cerebrospinal fluid which protects it from mechanical shock.

Forebrain:

·                   It is comprised of cerebrum and olfactory lobes. It is the major part of the brain and is considered as intelligence centre. Each part is having a specific function in control and coordination activities.
