Recap of definition and types of adverbs:

Definition: Word that tells us something more about a verb = Adverb.

 

Examples of each:

  1. The windmill is spinning SLOWLY.

(is spinning how? Ans: Slowly. Thus, slowly = adverb of manner)

 

  1. The goldfish is flopping OUTSIDE the bowl.

(is flopping where? Ans: Outside. Thus, outside = adverb of place)

 

  1. We visited the gas station YESTERDAY.

(visited when? Ans: Yesterday. Thus, yesterday = adverb of time)

 

Adverbs of frequency:

Shows us how often or how many times an action is done. Adverbs of frequency – once, thrice, seldom, again, always, never, etc.

Examples:

  1. The gorilla is ALWAYS making noise.

(is making how often? Ans: Always. Thus, always = adverb of frequency)

 

  1. We SELDOM go to the cinema hall.

(go how often? Ans: Seldom. Thus, seldom = adverb of frequency)

 

  1. The hand is snapping its fingers TWICE.

(is snapping how many times? Ans: Twice. Thus, twice = adverb of frequency)
