Simple past tense - Formula

Positive: Subject + 2^nd form of the verb + Object

Negative: Subject + did not ( didn’t) + 1^st form of the verb + Object

Questions: Did + Subject+ 1^st form of the verb + Object

We use it when we are talking about a particular time in the past:

One hour ago/ Two years ago/ Last night/ Yesterday/ Last month

Examples:

I went to school yesterday.
I didn’t go to school yesterday.
Did you go to school yesterday ?
She cooked nice food.
Ravi sang a nice song.
Mr. Sharma taught me English.

I work in a travel agency now. Before that I worked in a department store.

We invited them to our party, but they decided not to come.

The police stopped me on my way home last night.

Lavina passed her examination because she studied very hard.
