Pollution is defined as the addition of unwanted particles or the removal of essential ones in/ from the environment which causes harm to the living world.
Air pollution isdefined as the undesirable physical, chemical and biological changes in the air due to various natural processes or manual activities that disturb the environment and affect the biological health.
Causes of air pollution:
Componentsthat cause the air pollution are known as pollutants. Air pollutants are eliminated in the environment due to natural processes or manual activities.
Examples: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and sulphur, suspended particles, dust, CFC’s etc.
Oxides of Nitrogen, Sulphur and Carbon accumulate in the air which reacts with water and produce acids which come down to the surface of earth with rain. This is known as acid rain.
These acids can cause the decolorization of buildings, damages the sculpture, destroys the soil quality, result in weathering of rocks, affect the biotic components etc.
