Prepositions Notes-6 [Level-6]

 

Beware of adverbs and prepositions:

PREPOSITION = always has an object

ADVERB = will not have an object

Examples:

  1. A. The wheels of the bicycles came OFF.

(no object; thus OFF = ADVERB)

 

  1. B. The leaves are falling OFF the tree.

(tree = object; thus OFF = PREPOSITION)

 

  1. A. The police arrived soon AFTER.

(no object; thus AFTER = ADVERB)

 

  1. B. We have vacation AFTER April.

(April = object; thus AFTER = PREPOSITION)
