Prepositions Notes-1 [Level-5]

Definition of preposition:

In a sentence a PREPOSITION is the word that is mostly placed before a noun or a pronoun to show how the noun/pronoun is related to some other word in the sentence.

Examples:

1. There is a sheep in the yard.

(IN – shows the relation between the nouns SHEEP and YARD)

2. He is fond of coffee.

(OF – shows the relation between the adjective FOND and noun COFFEE)

3. The bird jumped upon the teddy bear.
   (UPON – shows the relation between the verb JUMPED and noun BEAR)

PREPOSITION = that which is placed before.
