Simple past tense - Formula
Positive: Subject + 2nd form of the verb + Object
Negative: Subject + did not ( didn’t) + 1st form of the verb + Object
Questions: Did + Subject+ 1st form of the verb + Object
We use it when we are talking about a particular time in the past:
One hour ago/ Two years ago/ Last night/ Yesterday/ Last month
Examples:
I went to school yesterday.
break, build, cancel, carry, cry, die, grow, happen, keep, lie, open star, stare, stop, study, try, worry, leave
He carried his suitcases to the station.
Hitler ____ in 1945.
The Romans ____ straight roads.
All week, he ____ about the exam.
She ____ French and German from 1994 to 1996.
He ____ smoking last January.
She ____ her leg in the accident.
The accident ____ at nine o'clock at night.
