Simplification of Fractions

Fractions are in p/q form where q is not equal to 0. Here 'p' is called numerator and 'q' is called denominator.

Proper fraction : When numerator is smaller than denominator then it is a proper fraction. Means value of the fraction will be less than 1

Improper fraction : When numerator is greater than denominator then it is an improper fraction. Means value of the fraction will be more than 1

Mixed fraction : Its a combination of integer and a fraction : 1 3/5 =1 + 3/5 = 8/5

Like fraction : Fractions with same denominator are known to be like fractions.

Unlike fraction : Fractions with different denominator are known to be unlike fractions.

2/3, 4/5 are proper but unlike fractions

2/3, 1/3 are proper and like fractions

8/5, 9/5 are improper and like fractions

8/5, 8/7 are improper and unlike fractions.

Simplify a fraction means to reduce the fraction to its final form for example 34/170 can be reduces to 1/5 and now 1/5 can't be reduced any more.
