Am/Is/Are Questions
We make questions with Am/Is/Are (be )in the Present Simple like this:
B. When someone asks a question with Am/Is/Are (be), we can give short answers also:
Are you tired? Yes, I am. (Not only Yes.)
Is he here? No, he's not. (Not only No.)
Important point :
We cannot use a short form in affirmative short answers.
Here are some more examples of questions and short answers:
Am I late? Yes, you are, No, you aren't/you're not.
Are you an Indian? Yes, I am. No, I'm not.
Is she at home? Yes, she is. No, she isn't/she's not.
Is it rainy season in Delhi ? Yes, it is. No, it isn't/it's not.
