Verb Notes-1 [Level-3]

The present and past tenses:

See the following sentences:

  1. Mother cooks food now.
  2. Mother cooked food yesterday.

What is the action done? 'COOK' As you can see in sentence 1 the verb is 'cookS' and in sentence two the verb is 'cookED.' The V and the 'ed' that are added to 'cook' tell us the tense of the verb.

We add V or 'es' to show the present (now) tense. Present tense verbs are used to show that the action is happening now.

Formation of verbs:

Adding 'S',

Play + s = plays - The boy plays.

Read + s = reads - She reads a book.
