  1. lazy × industrious

lazy – unwilling to work or be active

example – I am feeling too lazy to go out.

industrious – working hard; busy

example – Shree is an industrious student.

 

  1. nourish × starve

nourish – to keep a person, an animal or a plant alive and healthy with food, etc.

example – All the hostlers were well nourished and in good physical condition.

starve – to suffer or die because you do not have enough food to eat

example – Ashima is starving herself to try to lose weight.

 

  1. condemn × praise

condemn – to show or suggest that somebody is guilty of something

example – The smuggler was condemned to a life of hardship.

praise – words that show approval of or admiration for somebody or something

example – Arundati wrote poems in praise of nature.

 

  1. thaw × freeze

thaw – to turn back into water after being frozen

example – Leave the meat to thaw before cooking.

freeze – to become hard, and often turn to ice, as a result of extreme cold

triumph – a great success, achievement or victory

example – The winning Indian cricket team returned home in triumph.

fail – to not be successful in achieving something

example – Anita failed her driving test.

grin – to smile widely

example – The students grinned with delight when they heard about the alumni meet.

frown – to make a serious, angry or worried expression by bringing your eyebrows closer together so that lines appear on your forehead

example – Soham frowned and pretended to ignore me.

harmony – a state of peaceful existence or agreement

example – I like to live together in perfect harmony.

discord – disagreement

example – Family discord surfaced during the function.

 

  1. ally × enemy

ally – someone who helps you or supports you in a fight, argument, war, etc

example – Her husband was her ally against their family.

enemy – a person who hates somebody or who acts or speaks against somebody or something

example – Atul has a lot of enemies in his office.

 

  1. captivity × liberty

captivity – the state of being kept as a prisoner or in a confined space
example – The culprit was held in captivity for eight years.

liberty – freedom to live as you choose without too many restrictions from government or authority

example – The concept of individual liberty is enshrined in Indian constitution.

 

  1. employer × employee

employer – a person or company that pays people to work for them

example – The employers of our company are very nice people.

employee – a person who is paid to work for somebody

example – There are around 40 employees in their firm.
