Cellular respiration:
The process of breakdown of food in the cell with the release of energy is called cellular respiration.
Breathing:
The process of inhalation and exhalation is known as breathing.
Breathing rate:
The number of times a person breathes in a minute is termed as the breathing rate.
Inhalation:
The taking in of air rich in oxygen into the body is called inhalation.
Exhalation:
The giving out of air rich in carbon dioxide is called exhalation.
Diaphragm:
A large, muscular sheet which called forms the floor of the chest cavity is called diaphragm.
Spiracles:
An external respiratory opening, esp. each of a number of pores on the body of an insect are called spiracles.
Tracheae:
Insects have a network of air tubes for gas exchange called tracheae.
Gills:
The respiratory organ of aquatic animals, viz. in fish, that breathe oxygen dissolved in water are called gills.
Stomata:
Pores found in leaves which help plants to respire are called stomata.
Aerobic respiration:
The process of respiration that takes place in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration.
Anaerobic respiration:
The process of respiration that takes place in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.
