Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi was a great freedom fighter.
He was born on 2nd October, 1869, at Porbandar.
His birthday is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti, it is our National Festival and we have a National holiday on this day.
His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
He believed in Ahim- sa (Non-violence).
He lived a simple life.
We also call him Bapu.
He was shot dead on 30th January, 1948.
For his services and sacrifice for the country he was named Father of the Nation.
His body was cremated at Raj Ghat in New Delhi.
We observe this day as the Martyr’s Day every year.
