  1. fair – treating someone in a way that is right or reasonable

example – It’s not fair to him to ask him to do all the work.

It’s not fair on the students to keep changing the teachers.

fare – the money that you pay to travel by bus, plane,taxi , train etc.

example – Children travel at half fare from Mumbai to Ahmedabad by train.

 

  1. berth – a bed in a boat, train, etc., or a place for a ship or boat to stay in a port

example – The train’s cabin has three berths, upper, middle & lower.

birth – the time when a baby comes out of its mother's body

example – My cat gave birth to a baby last night.

 

  1. knows – be aware of through observation, inquiry, or information

example – He is very intelligent, he knows solutions to all the problems.

nose – a part of the body used for breathing and smelling

example – Ravi broke his nose in the fight.

 

  1. wood – the material that trees are made of, or a small forest

example – All the furniture in my house is made of wood.

would – used to refer to future time from the point of view of the past, past tense of ‘will’

example – Ram said he would be here at nine ‘o’ clock.

 

  1. threw –past tense of ‘throw’ which means to send something through the air with force, by a sudden movement of the arm

example – My brother threw the football back to the court.

through – from one end or side of something to the other

example – The thief got in through window and stole some valuables from her house.

 

  1. principal – most important

example – The principal reason for these mistakes is lack of time.

Mr. Sharma, principal of St. mary’s school, has been invited as chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony.

example – I refused to lie about the crime; It’s against my principles.

 

  1. weather – climate

example – The weather is very cold today, you should wear woolen clothes.

whether – if

example – My friend has called me for her B’ Day Party but I can’t decide whether to go or not.

 

  1. might – past tense of ‘may’ which means something is possible but is not sure to happen

example – I am planning to go to Goa but I don’t have car. I might borrow Ravi’s car for two days.

mite – a very small animal similar to a spider

example – My brother shouted loudly when he saw a mite on my

shoulder.

 

  1. seam – a line where two pieces of cloth are joined together

example – The tailor has not put the seam properly in my shirt.

seem – to appear to be

example – I am getting late for the party. My kids aren’t ready yet. They seem to be taking a long time to get ready.

 

  1. find – to discover

example – Though the question is very tough but I will try to find the answer.

fined – to charge someone an amount of money as a punishment

example – I was fined Rs. 500 for driving too fast.

 

  1. formally – in accordance with convention or etiquette

example – The accounts were formally approved by the auditors.

formerly – in the past

example – Mumbai was formerly known as Bombay.
