INTRODUCTION


Sorting means to group objects according to the property of material it is made up of or according to our usage. Like, books can’t be kept with utensils in the kitchen, similarly rackets can’t be kept with golf set.

 

Objects:

  • Objects are non-living things present around us which provide us comfort in our daily life.
  • We use several objects in our day-to-day lives.
  • The objects can be put together in different groups according to the type of materials they are made up of.
  • Objects are made of various materials.
  • An object can be made of one material or more than one material.
  • Also, a material can be used to make different objects, for example, glass is used to make glass bowl, glass jar, spectacles, mirror etc.
  • An object can be made from different materials.
  • For example, various objects like table, chair, bed, book rack, etc. can be made from wood.

 

Different objects can be made from the same material.

  • For example, window panes, tumbler, etc. can be made from glass.
  • Different objects are made up of same or different materials.

 

Objects around us:

  • We see different types of objects around us like, a chair, a bullock cart, a cycle, cooking utensils, books, clothes, toys, stones etc.
  • All these objects have different shapes, colours and uses.
  • Objects are made up of one or more materials such as paper, glass, plastic, cloth, wood, metal, mud, soil, cotton, etc.
  • Different materials have different properties.
  • Many objects differing in usage can be made from the same material.
