Comprehension based Questions:
Chemical and pathogenic pollution pose grave risk to human health and all life forms. Waterborne diseases are quite common nowadays. Excessive nutrients from sewage and fertilizers, for example, cause excessive growth of weeds that harms population of aquatic life forms and navigation. This is called Eutrophication. Presence of certain chemicals and minerals like mercury and lead can cause serious disorders and deformities in human beings and animals. Radioactive pollution also does so. Such chemicals generally come through industrial wastes. Thermal pollution raises temperature of water. Some life forms are highly susceptible to even slight increase in temperature. So rise in temperature can even wipe out some species. Ships and oil tankers accidentally cause oil spills that pollute seas and affect all marine life.
